Baloch Society of North America “Decelebrate”
Pakistan’s Independence Day

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – August 14, 2009 -- The Baloch Society of North America announced it organized a gathering to “decelebrate” Pakistan’s August
14th Independence Day.

The Baloch Society said the reason for “decelebration” was that since 1947 Baluchistan has attempted to become a nation independent of Pakistani
tyrannical rule. Unsuccessful, Baluchistan is recognized by the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization, or UNPO, as an “un-represented
nation.”

“Baluchistan was never a part of Pakistan,” Dr. Wahid Baloch President of Baloch Society of North America (BSO-NA) said. “Baluchistan declared its
independence on August 11, 1947. On March 27, 1948, Pakistan attacked the sovereign nation of Baluchistan, occupied it and forcefully annexed into
Pakistan against the wishes of the Baloch people. Since then, Baluchistan has been under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. Pakistan is in violation of
international law for her continuous illegal occupation of Baluchistan.”

Hakim Baloch, a peace activist and a former teacher in Baluchistan, presided over the meeting. Several Americans and Pashtuns joined the gathering.

In his speech, Hakim,  urged all Baloch groups to shun their differences and unite on a single platform for the greater interest of Baluchistan. He further
emphasized the role of education as a tool for empowerment.

Nasser Ibrahim, a Pashtun human right activist and a supporter of Baloch-Pashtun rights, in his speech explained the plight of Pashtun people in
Pakistan. He said he believes that Pakistan is using the American-led War On Terror as a “cash-in business over the blood of the Pashtun people.”

“Hundreds of thousand Pashtun has been evicted from their home in Swat valley because of Pakistani military's carpet bombing,” Ibrahim said. “None
of the Taliban leaders have been killed by Pakistan's military operation. Only the Pashtun civilian have died.”

Dr. Baloch condemned the Pakistani and Iranian state terrorism against the secular Baloch people in Pakistani and Iranian occupied Baluchistan. He
expressed deep concerns and regret over the silence of US government, UN, and other human right organizations over the ongoing genocide of Baloch
nation. He began his speech by explaining the conflict in Baluchistan that receives little to no media coverage.

“Dear friends, 62 years ago, on this day, on the 14th of August in 1947, a blunder happened. A big blunder. The biggest blunder in the history of
mankind. Pakistan was created out of India as an Islamic fundamentalist state based on religious ideology, despite the fact that majority of Indian
Muslims strongly oppose the idea to divide India on religious lines. The United Nation and world community must not close their eyes over the ongoing
Pakistan and Iranian crimes and gross human right violations against Baloch people in occupied Baluchistan.” He went on to ask that the UN and world
community intervene in Baluchistan to “prevent further bloodshed under the Pakistani and Iranian occupation.”

Dr. Baloch said in his speech that thousands of Baloch have been hanged in public by Iranian terrorist revolutionary guards. More than 80,000 Baloch
have been evicted from their homes by Pakistani army and are living in harsh conditions as refugees in their own homeland without any food, water and
medicine.

"It is time for the world community and human rights organizations to come forward and rescue the oppressed Baloch people of Baluchistan.
Baluchistan occupation must end and Baluchistan’s sovereign status as an independent state must be restored according to the international laws.
The Baloch people have every right to free their land from the occupiers.”
