QUETTA: Following an increase in the number of target killings in Quetta city, the Balochistan government has once again called for the Frontier Corps
(FC) to establish pickets in the provincial capital to deal with the worsening state of law and order.

The provincial government had to withdraw all FC pickets soon after coming into power due to massive public pressure following complaints of
harassment.

Quetta faced serious law and order problems this week when a Hazara union council nazim and three of his colleagues were shot dead in the city
centre, followed by massive protests by Shia Hazaras. Target killings also continued, including that of Government Commerce College Principal Syed
Amant Ali Baig, a Punjabi, in broad daylight outside the college on Tuesday.

According to the officials, the government of Balochistan has made a formal request to the FC, a federal paramilitary force, via a letter, to extend its
services to the government to overcome the cases of target killings. In this regard, the FC has been asked to establish pickets in various parts of the city
to monitor the movement of suspects.

“The FC would take charge of the city with a few days,” one government official confirmed.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani visited the Frontier Corps headquarters on Hali Road on Thursday and discussed the law and order
situation with FC Inspector General Major General Saleem Nawaz. Talking to reporters, the CM confirmed his government’s request to the FC for helping
the Balochistan government overcome the law and order problems.

To a question pertaining to a recent statement by Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri, who had informed the Balochistan Assembly he knew
which elements were responsible for target killings but lacked the power to bring them to justice, the chief minister said he did not have such information.

“If I had information about the target killers, I would not sit silent but would act against them,” he told reporters in Quetta.

Raisani said he and the FC IG had agreed to pursue the ongoing process of reconciliation in Balochistan by cooperating with each other.

Opposition: Abdul Khaliq Hazara, the central secretary general of the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) said: “Some elements within the establishment
had been conspiring against the provincial government and undermining its credibility since its inception. Now they have managed to pave the way for
the FC to come into power. The deployment of the FC in Quetta will only lead to more lawlessness, chaos and instability.”

The Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party president said everyone in Balochistan supported the Baloch demand for constitutional rights but no one endorsed
the target killings.

All these target killings are ISI and MI  sponsored killings to create a pretext and excuse to take over the control of Quetta and other Baloch cities so that
the military men can continue their drug and smuggling business without any obstacle. Just imagine with all these target killing incidents no one got
arrested or brought to the court for charges. This will tell you who is behind these killings and why?
