| He said we don't need Pakistan's development but we need a developed Balochistan where Baloch can live with pride and dignity. No power can stop us from getting our right to self-determination. Mengal said that government claims of development in coastal areas are just words of mouth. In reality no development had taken place in last 20 years. He said he had visited pasni twenty years ago, today he could see no changes it is still the same. The only development one can see is the army check points and army personal everywhere in Balochistan. Pakistan is expelling Baloch people from Baloch land in the name of development and so called Mega projects, pointed out Mr Mengal. He said Balochistan is not that soft that everyone can eat and digest it. Baloch had fought wars against The British and the portages and defeated them. Punjabi are nothing infect they are slaves of the British and the portages. Punjabi's graves won't even be tolerated on Baloch land, because their hands are soaked with Baloch blood, said Sardar Mengal. He said that previously Musharraf said that 70 Sardars were with him out of 73 Sardars. "From that day we have decided that we are not among those Sardars who sit on the lap of Musharraf that is why a crackdown was started against our party and workers. Today where are those 70 sardars whom Musharraf used to praise. He said healthy Jam Yousaf used to be one of Musharraf's followers but today he can't be seen anywhere". Others who addressed the massive public gathering were Mr Jhanzeb Jamaldini, Noordin Mengal, Javid Baloch and Murad Mengal. These leaders in their speeches said that Balochistan despite being the richest and full of natural resources its people were among the poorest. Baloch people today lack basic necessities of life i.e. gas, elasticity, clean drinking water and hospitals. Whereas as Punjab is benefiting from Balochistan wealth. They said that Self-determination and autonomy was BNP's aim and objective. They paid rich tributes to Martyrs of Turbat Balochistan and said that there was need of a long queue to follow the foot-prints for the Martyrs. They stated that Balochistan coastal belt Pasni, Gwader, Jewani, Ormara, Sonmyani and Gadani were financing billions of rupees to Pakistan each year. Whereas the people of coastal belt and in Balochistan could hardly get onetime bread to feed their children. They vowed that their struggle would continue from the stroke of pen to the barrel of gun. Meanwhile speaking at a public gathering at Fazil Chowk in Gwader BNP's leaders Akhtar Mengal, advocate Habil Jalib, Dr Jhanzeb, and Mr Rauf Mengal said that Baloch Nation should unite against the setting up of army garrisons in Balochistan. They said that their struggle was for self- determination which is according to UN charter. They said UN and international communities should help resolve Balochistan issue with being biasness. Balochistan's wealth is being looted from last 60 years, they said. Baloch nation's exploitation was taking place in the name of development. BNP leaders said that their party has been accused for opportunism. “When Nawab Bugti was killed we resigned from the government but it was said that we did so to score political goals”. “When we started the Lashkar-e-Balochistan movement government started a crackdown against our leadership and workers many of our leaders and workers have been arrested and detained for long time, during that time it was said that Akhtar Mengal will be released and elected as chief minister”. Baloch should unite for their self-determination they leaders said in their concluding remarks. Akhtar Mengal was greeted by a huge crowd of BNP activists at Sarbander 25 kilometres from Gwader and was then taken to Gwader with a caravan of vehicles. Baloch students hoisted flag of independent Balochistan at the place of gathering. Ormara: The caravan which has set off from ormara will continue its journey until Balochistan's self-determination and Baloch National Liberation. Balochistan issue's only solution is Independence, setting up a navy base in orama means the elimination of the people of ormara, BNP's leaders Akhtar Mengal expressed these view while addressing a massive public rally in ormara town in Balochistan. Mr Mengal said that Pakistani citizenship is an insult for Baloch people, it is the century of independence and Baloch should unite and work for freedom of their motherland and get rid of Punjabi slavery imposed on Baloch Nation from last 63 years. BNP (M) leader Akhtar Mengal, general secretary and ex-senator Mr Habib Jalib, ex-MNA Mr Rauf Mengal, general secretary of BSO (M) Mr Javid Baloch and others were speaking at a public gathering in ormara town in Balochistan. Speakers said that they were struggling against the Punjabi's occupation of Baloch land. Punjabi rulers have pushed the Baloch against the wall. They said that Baloch were not even able to see the dead bodies or their leaders and loved ones. Pakistan's so called Islamic army have no respect for human lives and value for human rights. They said when Pakistan army run away from battle field and left their dead soldiers behind in India. Their soldiers' dead bodies were put in coffins and given back to Pakistan with respect and dignity. Whereas Pakistan's intelligence agencies have abducted three Baloch political leaders, tortured them killed them in cold blood and dumped their bodies in a deserted area. Baloch leaders' decomposed bodies were later found by locals. Yet Pakistan's army and ISI claims to be vanguards of Islam. Where in Islam it says that bodies of people should be disrespected and dumped away in such a brutal manner? They questioned. Speaking to the people of ormara Akhrar Mengal said that he visited Ormara first time in 1988 and now he was there after 20 years. Nothing has changed in the town; only change one can notice is that people of Ormara are under siege. The cemetery is decorated with the pictures of Mr Jinnah and a navy base is being set up to make the life miserable for people. Thousands of acres of land have been allotted to brigadiers, army generals, colonels and other non-Baloch hailing from different part of Pakistan. He said he was not there for an election campaign but he was out to ask for peoples' help to give a final push to the weaken wall (Pakistan) which is about to fall anyway, yet it needs a little push and Baloch people united can topple this wall for ever. He said that “we have tried Pakistani police, army, judiciary, bureaucracy and parliament but none of these are beneficial for Baloch people”. Referring to United Nations Mr Mengal said that they should come to the aid of Balochistan. International community should help the Baluch to get rid of the forced occupation of their land. He said if the UN cannot help the Baluch to get their self-determination then they should remove the chapter of self- determination (which guarantees the protection of the of oppressed Nations' rights) from the UN charter. He said when Nawaz Sharif revolted against the government and started a long March toward Islamabad every Punjabi police, doctor, labor, lawyer, student, social worker – hence people from all spheres of life joined his long March and forced the government to fulfill their demands. In same manner the Baloch Nation should show unity and work for National liberation of Balochistan. In same manner the Baloch Nation should show unity and work for National liberation of Balochistan. Mengal says Balochistan’s independence BNP’s goal May 8, 2009 QUETTA: Former Balochistan chief minister and Balochistan National Party (BNP) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal said on Thursday the ultimate goal of his party was to seek Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan, for which the party was striving to prepare the ground and ensure unity among all Baloch nationalist political groups. He was speaking at a public gathering in western Panjgur district bordering Iran. The BNP chief said the Baloch had become tired of unabated military operations and excessive exploitation of their natural resources by the federal government, and now the BNP wanted the separation of Balochistan from Pakistan. The Baloch leaders need, however, to forge unity in their ranks in order to achieve the goal of liberation, he said. The BNP has previously faced many challenges, including the killing, arrest and exile of its leaders, the enlisting of their names on the exit control list and the freezing of their bank accounts, he added. Mengal criticised President Asif Zardari for not sticking to his pledge of giving up the repressive policies of the former regime. malik siraj akbar http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=200958story_8-5-2009_pg7_9 |
