Govt wants complete control of Baloch resources: Bugti
QUETTA, Dec 8 (Online): Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, veteran Baloch nationalist and head of Jamhoori Watan Party has declared that the government
was preparing for a full scale military operation in Balochistan to have a complete control of Baloch resources.
He stated this while talking to a group of journalists on telephone from the town of Dera Bugti on Thursday. He said that the government and its
ministers were making press statements that operation was going on against the terrorists, dacoits and Farari (rebels) camps, but in fact it were
all to cover the already launched military operations in different areas of Balochistan. Bugti said that operation was already going on in the province
in bits and pieces, but now the government was making preparation for a full scale major one. He said that the on-going actions of para military
forces in Naushki, Kharan, Mustung, Mungochar and other parts of Balochistan was the series of this chain.
Nawab Bugti said that some 300 workers and activists Baloch parties and tribes of different tribes were arrested recently while some 200 persons
were arrested in the past who were languishing in torture cells. He said that these all efforts were to eliminate workers and their political
leadership and discourage the Baloch population in general so that they could give up their national struggle for their rights and to have control over
their own resources.
He said that in fact the purpose of grand operation and on-going small operation was to further firm Islamabad’s hold on the resources of Baloch
and eliminate the resistance, the people and the political parties were offering against its vested interests. He said that the government’s loot and
plunder of natural resources continued in Dera Bugti while plans were there to do that in Kohlu and Gwadar. He said that Gwadar was planned to
be made an international modern port with all facilities and obviously like past Baloch would not get any thing from the revenue of the port and other
projects. He said that contrary to that they would be deprived of their land and be converted into minority by a mass influx of outsiders who would
permanently upset the demography of Balochistan thereby turning them into minority on our own homeland.
To a question, Baloch veteran nationalist said that the already existed gulf and mistrust between Islamabad and Baloch people was widening day
by day with the aggressive designs and actions of government and every body could understand the repercussion and results of these actions.
When asked about the prevailing situation in Dera Bugti, the JWP leader said that there was build up of huge forces with heavy weapons in the
town and obviously it was not for any prosperity and development, but for operation. He said that such preparations were made in March last and at
that time the government and its ministers also kept harping that no operation would be launched, but what happened later.
He said that his house were attacked with artillery shells and rockets and other modern weapons. He said that over 600 different kind shells were
lobbed on different parts of his house guest room and sitting area and on Hindu Mohallah. He said that over 60 people including 33 Hindus were
martyred in the shelling. He said that heavy deployment of Rangers was made in Dera Bugti district on the provincial border with Sindh and in
some actions 50 to 60 innocent tribesmen were arrested.
He said that FC officials and civil district officer threatened the Hindu community that the previous incident (of March, 17) did not teach them any
lesson and they should leave the area to save their lives as such incident could also happen in future. He said that some Hindu families after
official threats had also migrated from the district.
While commenting the claim of federal interior minister about the presence of Farari (rebel) camps, Nawab Akbar Bugti said that the federal
minister also identified one of these camps in the area of another federal minister belonging to official PML in Shoran of district Bolan. He said now
it was yet to be seen whether any action was to be taken against that camp in the area of federal minister or not. He said that the government
claimed that these Farari camps had the patronage of Baloch nationalists, but if the statement of federal interior minister was correct than the
Farari camp established in the area government party’s federal minister, must have been set with his consent.
About a group arrested by Lahore police on the charges of bomb explosions, the JWP leader said that he got to know through media that the
people who were involved in the blasts in Punjab were purely Punjabis otherwise in past Baloch were held responsible for such actions. He said
that if the pure Punjabis started joining Baloch Liberation Army over the decades long injustices, than it was happy augury as a common Punjabi
started thinking in deep in this regard. Otherwise, he declared, it was a government trick to harm Baloch cause.
